ILLUSTRATIVE APPLICATION BASED ON PUBLIC REQUIREMENTS
This conditional illustration uses public documents. It is not a ConstructQuant client, completed project or account of local project experience. No project quantities or prices are assumed.
Identify the conditional storage-heater supply arrangement
Storage water heater cold-water supply passing a check valve, PRV or backflow preventer under the confirmed Georgia code basis; relief piping condition separately depends on the specified connection. Estimator does not size a tank, select pressure limits or redesign relief piping. Do not apply the storage-heater condition to every tankless unit or assume insert fittings.
Trace the expansion and relief-discharge details
Cross-check the schematic for an expansion-control row instead of pricing the heater alone. Match the selected relief-discharge detail to the specified fitting type; flag an inconsistent nominal pipe size rather than copying the valve outlet size into every line.
Keep heater equipment and amended accessory scope distinct
Captures accessories and fitting-dependent pipe scope that a single water-heater equipment row misses. Two numbered Georgia amendments affect material rows and clarification decisions, not merely a local code-year label.
Trace the document into the estimate
- Official basis
- Georgia Department of Community Affairs: Georgia State Plumbing Amendments. 2024 IPC with Georgia amendments revised/effective January 1, 2026. Section 607.3 p. 15; Section 504.6 pp. 11-12
- Project documents
- Water-heater schedule, cold-water riser/valve schematic and relief-discharge detail.
- Documented condition
- 607.3 places thermal-expansion control downstream of the listed devices; tank location/sizing follows the stated conditions. 504.6 includes a larger nominal discharge-pipe size when insert fittings are used.
- Affected scope
- Specified expansion-control device and connections; correct relief-discharge pipe size, fittings and terminal fastening where applicable.
- Possible estimate items
- Expansion-control device EA; specified connectors/supports; relief-discharge pipe LF by issued size, fittings and fastening.
| Decision | Inspect | Possible scope row | Check before pricing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Closed supply condition | Cold-water valve/backflow schematic | Specified expansion-control device and connections | Confirm the condition; do not price a heater-only package. |
| Relief-discharge connection | Specified fitting type and discharge detail | Pipe LF/fittings at the issued nominal size | Flag insert-fitting detail conflicts; do not redesign. |
| Equipment versus accessories | Schedule, schematic and agreed inclusion list | Separate heater, expansion and discharge rows | Avoid counting one accessory twice under different trades. |
Source references and limits
Estimator does not size a tank, select pressure limits or redesign relief piping. Do not apply the storage-heater condition to every tankless unit or assume insert fittings.
This proposed estimating resource does not determine engineering/design, permit approval, insurance eligibility, environmental design, legal applicability or code-compliance certification. Refer project applicability and design decisions to the responsible designer, authority or operator. This is a resource boundary, not a separately confirmed exhaustive company service exclusion.
Remote services and agreed deliverables
ConstructQuant provides quantity takeoff, material takeoff, cost/priced estimates and bid estimating remotely for projects across the United States. Remote coverage does not imply physical offices, local teams or local project history. The agreed project scope determines the services and outputs included.
Excel, PDF and quantity worksheets are supported deliverables. Marked drawings, material lists, scope notes and other outputs are project-dependent. Only deliverables included in the project’s agreed scope are promised.
Workflow: Plans/specs → Scope review → Quantity/material takeoff → Pricing/cost estimate where requested → QA/review → Final deliverables
Send the issued plans/specifications and the estimate purpose for scope review. Identify the requested trades, document revisions and any unresolved details before agreeing the output package.
